“We decided to take a different approach with this list than we did in the previous edition,” said aGuinness World Records’ spokesperson in a statement. “Instead of asking developers, industry insiders and journalists to rank their favorite titles, we approached a different kind of expert: the players themselves! We are confident that this ‘top 50′ more accurately reflects the tastes of the average gamer and not just the critics.”

The game, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, is a game that is going to be coming out for the Sony PlayStation Portable. The release date that has been set for this game is in this June on June 8th, 2010. In this game, which is published by Konami, you will try to preserve peace in the nation without a military.

Here is a preview that was given to the game:

“I have gotten into the habit of walking into game previews completely blind as of late. Call it tunnel vision, call it too much attention to games when they’re done and sent to me with a shiny plastic case, but I have not been keeping up with Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker as much as my compatriots, and only made slight headway through the downloadable demo. But that did not stop me from attending Konami’s Peace Walker themed “Boot Camp” a few weeks back in San Francisco. Boy, was I in for a surprise.”

Be sure to look into more details about this game as the release date comes closer and closer.

The PlayStation Portable had a very good year. In the year of 2009, there were a few of the major franchises that put out a game or two for the PSP including franchises like Rock Band, Assassins Creed, Little Big Planet and Resistance. There were also some big games that returned with sequels in this year including games like Final Fantasy, Patapon and LocoRoco. One thing that a lot of people really like about the PlayStation Portable is that it can be picked up and played anywhere at any time. This is one thing that really draws a lot of people in to it and the excellent quality and variety of games keeps them attatched to it.

PSP — 293,900

PlayStation 2 — 203,100

Because of the Christmas season, I think that the hardware sales are going to steadily increase for a little while as there are probably a lot of kids with these consoles on their Christmas list.

“All hardware systems realized an increase over October but one would expect that from seasonality alone,” said Group analyst Anita Frazier. “More positive economic news combined with ‘frugal fatigue’ could positively impact industry sales during these last weeks of the holiday season.”
Here are the software sales from the month of November:

360 – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Activision, 4.20M

PS3 – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Activision, 1.87M

Wii – New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Nintendo, 1.39M

360 – Assassin’s Creed II, Ubisoft, 794,700

360 – Left 4 Dead 2, Electronic Arts, 744,000

Wii – Wii Sports Resort, Nintendo, 720,200

Wii – Wii Fit Plus, Nintendo, 679,000

PS3 – Assassin’ Creed II, Ubisoft, 448,400

360 – Dragon Age: Origins, Electronic Arts, 362,100

Wii – Mario Kart w/ Wheel, Nintendo, 315,000

It comes as no surprise to any one which game was going to come out on top.

“While this year’s top-selling item bested last year’s by 283%, it couldn’t make up for softness elsewhere,” said Frazier. “The top 50 games this year sold 5% less units than did the top 50 last year.”
