They will not be able to somehow patch these titles to allow them to use these new controls. Whether the game companies will start selling versions of older games that it will work with, or if they just let it go is unsure.

The good news is, this new software is going to really revolutionize their controllers. They were already doing so well with the motion sensing controller, but this update is showing that they have improved upon the technology. They are essentially in v2 of a motion controller while Sony and Microsoft are both having to work on their first. If Nintendo can keep this up, their next system will surely be able to keep in the console wars despite their poor online gaming.
