After a very long wait that put many people in suspense, Sony has finally shared its plans to allow for PSP owners to digitally transfer all of the UMD games onto the new PSP Go. Sony’s big plan that they have finally figured out is this: Sony does not plan to ever completely support this kind of service. Sony reported to Kotaku, “We were evaluating a UMD conversion program, but due to legal and technical reasons we will not be offering the program at this time.” Because Sony seems so serious about this plan at the present time, I think that a couple of PSP owners may have a couple things to say to Sony about this.

In hopes to maybe put some of the angry people at ease, Sony has announced that in the UK an offer will be available to all PSP owners looking to upgrade to the PSP Go. This deal will be that they could have three digitally transferred games of their own choosing from a certain list.

Recent reports from Eurogamer say that PSP owners can sign on to the PlayStation Network which would make them eligible to earn a voucher via email. This will allow them to have any three of the following games:

  • Buzz!: Brain Bender
  • Buzz!: Master Quiz
  • Daxter
  • Echochrome
  • Everybody’s Golf PSP
  • Killzone: LiberationfiLemmings PSP
  • LocoRoco
  • MediEvil
  • Patapon
  • Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice
  • Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
  • Resistance: Retribution
  • SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3
  • Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
  • Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow
  • WipEout
  • Even though right now this deal is supposedly only for the UK, I think that it will probably end up in the US very soon.
