With the recent price cuts by Sony and Microsoft on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, Nintendo is going to need to make a couple of big and strategic moves in order to keep interesting buyers for the Wii. Nintendo has decided that the first thing they are going to do as a response to the price cuts is selling black Wii-motes and nun-chucks. These black remotes will hopefully be available for the upcoming holiday season. Nintendo is going to be releasing a black version of the Wii remote. This remote will be bundled with a black Wii MotionPlus add-on. Also, a black nun-chuck controller will be sold seperately for the holidays.

Nintendo states that this black bundle is the “first new color” for the Wiimote. This could possibly imply that there are going to be more exciting shades on the way following the black remotes. Many people are happy to see that Nintendo is finally offering different colored remotes. However, this small sale really compares as nothing to the huge price cuts by the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360. I mean does it honestly matter what color controller you are playing with? Although I know many people are going to go out and buy these new remotes, Nintendo is still going to need to step it up to compete with the PS3 and Xbox 360.
