Sony has been denying the ever present Playstation 3 price cuts for many months now and they have even gone as far as pissing off certain publishing companies by refusing to cut their prices to the point where companies even threatened to stop publishing on their console without a price cut. Well it seems as though they have finally come to their senses and they have decided that it is time to cut prices again on this third place console. Rumor has it that the price of the 160GB Playstation 3 will be priced at only $400 in the near future, that’s going to be a $100 price cut making this a much more affordable option for either a Blue Ray player or gaming system even if you were only interested in one or the other.

The ad in which the price cut is rumored to have started appearing in was set to release on September 8th. This probably means that Sony is going to be officially announcing this price cut at GamesCom this fall. This is probably as close to a confirmation of a price cut as you’ll get before GamesCom. At the very least, if I were you, I’d avoid purchasing a new Playstation 3 or Blue Ray player until September 8th to explore another option. Give this big price cut a chance to happen and you might just end up saving a bunch of money on your console or blue ray player purchase. If worse comes to worse, then you can always make your purchases after a disproved rumor becomes exposed. Personally, I think that this price cut is happening and it was well needed.
