While Microsoft may have gotten a jump on Sony by launching their motion controller first, Sony is looking to be the first one to release it. Sony has recently announced that the motion controller will be coming out in the fall of 2010. They will be releasing the controller along with a whole bunch of games to play along with it.
Sony president Kazuo Hirai explained in a statement:
“We will continue to work to have a comprehensive portfolio of attractive and innovative games for the Motion Controller, not only from SCE Worldwide Studios but also from the third party developers and publishers, whom we have been working closely with. We look forward to soon unveiling the exciting software line-up that further expands and defines the PS3 platform as the ultimate entertainment system for the home.”
Sony also added their plans to “vigorously promote the Motion Controller as the de facto controller of the PS3 platform along with the DUALSHOCK series controller.”
Microsoft’s Project Natal also has a head start over Sony on one thing. The name that will be given to Sony’s controller is still a mystery while Microsoft has been decided for quite a while. Be sure to keep watching for new information regarding these two motion controllers!
